2020 was a difficult year that everyone stayed at home. Getting the inspiration from my everyday life in home, bringing the domestic ideas into my works to make life becomes joyful.
With this new series of work “I want to be a brave rat”, I explore combining different textile techniques to tell the gender inequality issue in Taiwan. As a twenty-five year old Taiwanese woman, I have been inspired by a traditional story that also gives its title to my project. In Taiwanese society it is commonly considered that life requires marriage to be complete, and is therefore empty for a woman who never has children. Combining multi textile techniques to create my very own domestic things from kitchen and raise the awareness of the issue that happened around my life and my surroundings.
