Save Me From Jail - I Want To Be A Brave Rat
Here, humorous storytelling brings to attention the issue of gender inequality in Taiwanese culture. With an eye for detail and a wink to pop art, I focus on the craft of embroidery combined with figurative hand weaving to create my very own cute textile style.
As a twenty-five year old Taiwanese, I have been inspired by a traditional story that also gives its title to my project. In Asian society it is commonly considered that life requires marriage to be complete, and is therefore empty for a woman who never has children. Using weaving combined with embroidery, I want to tell stories that raise awareness about the notion of women's work in society.
